Lilly, misunderstood

Lilly is our pit bull terrier. She is grey in color, some say shes a blue. We crossed paths with her almost 4 years ago after a hurricane. We heard a local pound had no electricity and the animals were suffering from the heat. So we were off to help. There were only two dogs left, both pit bulls. When the lady came around the corner she had a pitiful excuse for a dog by her side. Skin and bones, 50lbs. at best. She asked if we wanted to see the other, we said no, this dog needed help. When it came time to give her back I couldn't let go. Now Lilly is 65lbs of freeloading love.

When we moved into our house a couple of years ago, we were not greeted warmly by some of the neighbors. Lilly was judged before she was given a chance. They would make sure to make it known pit bulls were not aloud in the subdivision. Come to find out that rule was for renters only. When we met the president of the home owners assocciation, Kathy, she was riding around on her golf cart. Lilly slowly crawled up on the floor of the cart and went to sleep, not uncommon for Lilly. Imediatly Kathy was in love and fended off current phone calls of complaints. Some of the neighbors have taken the time to get to know her and have reconcidered their judgements.

I can understand being cousiuos around new dogs, exspecially with children present. Its a shame when people judge prior to investigation. Lilly is a very lazy dog, rearley gets excited and I can count on one hand how many times she has barked. She is great with our 10 month old daughter and acts very well around other animals. I have friends wiyh pit bulls and they are great dogs, very people friendly.

You've inspired me to put together a post about our dog Saber. Although not as dramatic as yours, it's still quite a tale worth relaying. You guys made a wise selection, Lilly is a great dog.

Sweet Vader soundboard dude. Me and Savannah got a kick out of it.
